Baylor Bears verses APU road trip!

Since the first competition for Baylor Bears Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling meet was being held in California, we decided to do a road trip. Ally’s close high school friends and family from Arizona and California showed up to cheer on the Baylor Bears at their first meet. The fans of number 45 all wore matching shirts to show their support. It was a fun evening.  Ally’s high School coach (Mrs Block) drove with her husband from Mission Viejo to cheer her VCHS alumni on!   Sic ‘em Bears!  Devan, Brittan, Katie, Kara, and Mckenzie!

Baylor battles Azusa Pacific in Collegiate Acro Tumbling Opener

The Baylor Acrobatic and Tumbling team opens season on the road at Azusa Pacific College in California. Many of the girls were participating in their first event in this new sport. It was also new for the new head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams. The crowd filled the bleachers with an excellent turnout!

Britta Pierce and Tiffany Rudzitis ready themselves for their event.

Britta celebrates her tumbling pass!!!  Ally Cheatham had some of  her own fans at the event

Allyson goes to Baylor!

The area that caused a lot of consternation on this road trip was how to get all of Ally’s personal belongings and luggage for four on the long drive to Waco. We were going to rent a U-haul but instead we used space saver bags that you vacuum seal. We were able to store a closet full of clothes, chest of drawers along with all new bedding in one large bag. I was amazed. It took two people to carry the bag. One small duffel with shoes and we were set. We planned on buying the rest of her dorm supplies in Waco.

We drove from 8:45 am on Monday until 3:30 in the morning Tuesday to Fredericksburg. This little village was a German enclave founded before the civil war in the Hill Country of Texas. It had the coolest main street with awesome shopping and bed and breakfasts. We had to hit the road so we did not get to really experience the town. But we will return for another visit next trip.

When we arrived at school there were hundreds of volunteers that carried in your luggage. We did not have to unload anything. It was very helpful. The campus is amazing, the Heritage House where she is housed was beautiful.

Now we just need to decide over the next couple days how to decorate Ally’s room. To no surprise of anyone, the theme was decided in advance and Mom and daughters had to decide where to shop first. Now we just need to decide over the next couple days how to decorate Ally’s room.  (lower left) Two team mates Briesha and Britta with Courtney and Allyson live on the same floor.

Allyson’s dorm was beautiful both on the inside as well as the outside. They had a huge chessboard  outside the doors for fun.

I do not know how many times we went to Walmart and Target. We also hit other stores such as Home Depot, Ross, Bed Beth and Beyond, to name a few. The real find was Hobby Lobby. Everything was 50 percent off!

The transformation was amazing. Futons, pillows, pictures, frames, mirrors, curtains, etc. Laura, brought the trusty glue gun for a myriad of uses including adding bling to a number of decorating pieces like the lamp shades.

Even the bathroom got a makeover. Ally has a private bath that she and her room mate have for themselves. Not the same program that I had in College.

Senior Pictures for Andrew and Kathryn

undefined

I had the privilege to take the senior pics of some of our family friends. I have know Andrew from the time he was born. Kathryn has been Allyson’s BFF since they were in second grade.

undefined
The goal was to find a place that would give the textures that were not so typical. We shot the pictures at a abandoned mill of some sort. Lots of metal, lots of warm woods. We even through in a dose of graffiti!

Celebrating Ally’s Graduation at Grand Wailea!

undefined
I must admit the Grand Wailea is one of my favorite places in the world to stay. It holds special memories for our family over the years. The grounds are spectacular to say the least. The pressures of the outside world seem to  melt away in a cabana or under an umbrella on the beach. This was Ally’s choice of location to celebrate her high school graduation.

undefined

This is the little wedding Chapel that is on the grounds. It is manicured like Disneyland.

undefined
I have loved to use the  fountains on the resort as a backdrop to many of  our family photos over the years.

undefined

This is the water park outside our room. It is still fun for the whole family. It seems like yesterday…Ally, was begging us to hop out of bed and head to be the first one there when it opens. Time flies.

undefined
The three beautiful women in my family. Sunset outside of our room!

undefined

Shopping at the Grand Wailea shops next door to the resort. Beautiful shoppes and great restaurants!

New shades for the graduate shopping at Betsy Johnson Boutique. Who is that girl in the sunglasses?

Tradition is a dinner at Bubba Gumps in Lahaina, followed by some Lampbert ice cream!

undefined
Just a small after dinner treat at Lampberts in Lahaina.

undefined

I was given 10 minutes to do a photoshoot on the beach right before we raced to the airport. They promised me with 8 days at the resort they would not wait until the last minute. Right.  There is nothing like having time to prepare for the event. I love this pic..everyone got wet!

Time to head to the airport the journey home begins!
